Verona/Venice OCT 2016 : I needed a break, I wasn’t performing with my choir (Urban Voices Collective) who happened to be in Verona for an awesome gig performing with Andrea Bocelli at Intimissimi on Ice at the Arena Di Verona. I knew it was going to be a spectacular performance so off I went on my 3-day adventure!
Day 1 – as soon as I landed in Verona, I dropped my bags at the hotel, took a taxi to the Arena, bagged myself a backstage pass, and hung out with my singing family who took me on a tour of the city because they had been there already a few days earlier for rehearsal days. I visited the house of Romeo & Juliet, where it’s said that according to the tradition if we want to find true love we have to touch the right breast of Juliet’s statue situated in the courtyard of her house. Well I touched both breasts just in case LOL! I was then floored by the outstanding show of varying artistes including my fabulous choir, Urban Voices Collective!
Day 2 – after pretty much seeing most of Verona in a day I discovered I could get to Venice in 45 minutes by an intercity train. When I got to Venice I bought a city sightseeing tour ticket (http://www.venezia.city-sightseeing.it/eng/index-mobile.html) for a few hours, to see a little bit of Venice, the city built on water, by boat. On the tour I there were a few docked holiday cruise liners that were bigger than I ever expected them to be in real life! I got off at St Marks Square had a bit of lunch, got back on the boat to the train station to get back to Verona.
Day 3 – home time! This was a no frills but a very enjoyable budget trip, still with British Airways helped with my Avios, but I stayed at an old fashioned, a bit outdated hotel called Hotel Maxim which isn’t quite the 4 Stars it claims to be, but the staff certainly are! Well, all except a very grumpy Italian attendant at breakfast! Some pics to feed your eyes!
